Response to “Do you belief that the Quad is unique on University of Kentucky’s campus?”
When asked whether the Quad was unique 100% responded yes. The graph below shows the percentage of the keywords that appeared in the descriptions of why the Quad was unique on UK’s campus.
There is a strong correlation between knowledge of the Quad by engineering students and the belief that they understand the Quad better than their non-engineering major peers. This with a large response concerning the special construction of the Quad and feeling of closeness seems to emphasize the engineering student also lends to a castle-like ownership. It is similar to the isolated nature of the a castle from it’s other neighbors in the closed nature as perceived by the students and the ownership that can be attributed to the engineering students successfully navigating engineering quad. And the special construction also viewed by some students shows that the difference from other major’s buildings make the engineering students unique. Even though the Quad may not be a show of power it is most definitely a show of the special nature of engineers and how the university treats then students learn there.
